Junior Engineer.
Graduate or early career. Learn the job on site, not in a spreadsheet.
The role.
If you have finished a civil, structural or construction degree and you want to learn how buildings actually go together, this is a small team where you will be on site in your first week.
You would work directly with the project manager and project engineer. You would be given real work and checked properly, which is how you get good at this.
What you would do.
- Take site measurements and mark up drawings
- Run quality checklists and help keep the ITP records straight
- Keep document control tidy: drawing registers, revisions, site records
- Help prepare RFIs and chase the answers
- Assist with procurement schedules and material take offs
- Write up site diaries, progress photos and weekly reports
- Learn the trade side by spending real time with the crews
What you need.
- A degree, or final year study, in civil, structural or construction engineering
- You want to be on site, not only behind a desk
- Careful with numbers and with detail
- You ask when you are unsure rather than guessing
- Current driver licence
Nice to have, not essential: White card, AutoCAD or Revit, Any site or trade experience at all, including labouring.
